Akhyari ,
a blogger from Indonesia
once replied to me that
he thought the Philippines
was out of the Southeast
Asian Radar.
Somewhat true.
It's not just the animosity
of our people about other
countries
in the region but also
about the regions
perception
the we are different
from the rest of them.

It doesn't end there. A lot of us don't know much
about our SE Asian brothers and vice-versa. Oh, they look like us is the only remark that you can get from ordinary folks in the Philippines.Blogging changed all of that for me. It opened opportunities to meet people from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia in particular.
We have been bragging about our Filipino singers here and abroad. They are good. No doubt. Little do we know of singers in our region though. Thanks to ZARA, I got a sample of what MALAYSIAN SINGERS are made of........
This is the song from Malaysian Artistes for Unity and the song HERE IN MY HOME is all about....
double click on video stream if download is slow....

Hold on brother hold on
The road is long.
We’re on stony ground
But I’m strong.
You ain’t heavy
Oh there’s a misspoken truth
that lies Colors don’t bind, oh no.
What do they know?
They speak falsely.
Chorus
Here in my home
I’ll tell you what its all about
There’s just one hope here in my heart
One love undivided
That’s what it’s all about
Please won’t you fall in one
by one by one with me?

i also think that people of philipines are different from us(south east asia)don't know why..just seems different,,,,
ReplyDeleteThanks for regarding me as "Singapore" heheheheheheh!! XD
ReplyDeleteYes I am very happy to know friends like you online too! After all, friends and nice communities make blogging only more meaningful.
Though I have never been to your country before, my impression of the Philippines is it has friendly, warm and nice people! I never feel intimidated when interacting with them!
ReplyDeleteDear!
ReplyDeleteThanks for make this post.
I always believe in humanity aspects...how our hearts can tight together whether never meet each other.
Yeah!
We are the Rakyat-lah!
[means that we are the citizen]
THANKS VERY MUCH FOR PUTTING MY NAME, BRO !
ReplyDeleteKINDLY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT MY LOVE TO PHILIPPINE NEVER ENDS. INDO AND PHIL WILL GO HAND IN HAND IN THE FUTURE
wow ang galeng ng blog mo parang u.n ^^
ReplyDeleteMelandre----perhaps because of geography. The cluster that was Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia is something which made those countries, culturally, historically, religiously closely linked.....
ReplyDeletenot to metion the other cluster, Vietnam, Cambodia Laos, And again, Thailand. We were alone here in this part of Southeast Asia. And we are Christians too. I don't like the idea of having religion as a dividing force. I don't mean it that way, but it really has really shaped us in a different way.....
Eunice---though you have never been here, which we wish you could so that you could also feature some places here in your famous blog-----we are still happy to know that you feel the warmth of our hospitality.....
ReplyDeletei believe that in one way SE nations are not united. but i am realy interested in knowing their culture.
ReplyDeletein one way, blog opens that chance.
wow!
ReplyDeletenakaka-inspire naman. in my old mtv blog i got lots of friends from malysia ang singapore. so far dito wala pa. hehe. puro pinoy pa lang
Thanks for the reference. By the way, I had listen to this song for sometime but strange thing is this song never been played on our national television.
ReplyDeleteZara---we are the citizen, so that is the meaning of that. Thanks again. And I think I also believe in the message of the song.
ReplyDeleteArry---thanks Arry. I know that. we can feel it. I donno how many times I have told you also, I feel for Indonesia more than any other country in SEA. I donno why, it's just the feeling I have. Not that I hate the others of coarse.peace to all.
Alex---gawin bang UNITED NATIONS? world peace, anyone?
ReplyDeleteDong---A lot of people share you ideas I am sure.
Joshmarie--what are you waiting for. Time to meet some again.
ReplyDeleteFalcon---this is very strange. I thought it was a generic song in your country. Is it your first time to hear it here? If so, you owe me one I guess...keke
The internet has truly made this world smaller.
ReplyDeleteMy staff actually thought before that the Philippines is part of china. lol. The easiest way to describe to them where RP is located, is to say it's near China/HK.
but now, Phils is most recognized as "country of Manny Pacquiao".. (nun ngtravel kame, eto napansin namen. haha)
ReplyDeleteI think it's because the Philippines is separated by the sea from the other SEA countries...And maybe because we are the only Christian nation in SEA.
ReplyDeletewe are all same same but different... hehehe.
ReplyDeleteat least here in cambodia, people here refer to the philippins as the land of jericho rosales and kristine hermosa (it's so unbelievable how popular they are here!) but the good thing is, they believe that all filipinos look like them! hahaha!
Kris---since you have a good following there, why not bring them to the Philippines so that they can see what we have here. Kelan kaba huling nagbakasyun?
ReplyDeleteChyng---ganun pala perception nung pumunta kayo HK. interesting.
ReplyDeleteDenis---nice analogy. I think so too.
kuya loven---so, they are importing our telenovelas pala dyan? hmmm.kakatuwa naman.
ReplyDeleteambassador of peace and goodwill ka na sa blog na to...
ReplyDeletehehehe...
:-)
peace!
Marvin---ito lang masasabi ko. ewan ko su!!!keke
