Since the scheduled WORLD PYRO OLYMPICS was postponed til January 2010, we had to change plans as well. The first option was supposed to be swimming at Club Manila East since they have this 50% off promo for all facebook fans. Twas cancelled as well. Out of frustration, I grabbed my motobike and drove southward with Marvin to Cardona, Morong, Baras and then Tanay Rizal.....
We stopped over Morong Church for Marvin to see it. Then we drove southwards again as I am curious about TANAY RIZAL.It's only 15 minutes away from Morong. Good thing I took the highway, the travel time would have been longer as the other way passes through small communities....
Tanay is a 1st class municipality in the province of Rizal Philippines. It is located 57 kilometers east of Manila.
We were here for 2 reasons. One, I want to survey the area if it is possible to commute to Laguna from here and two, I wanted to see the famous CHURCH of TANAY otherwise known as Saint Ildefonso Church.
Tanay church on a busy Sunday afternoon....
Marvin busy looking at the details....
It is an example of early Renaissance Architecture. The church is famous for its beautiful ‘retablos’ (altars) and 14 ‘Via Crucis’ or Station of the Cross curved in bass relief of wood, and other antiques.
the altar similar to that of Antipolo Church...
...that make it more than 200 years. But well maintained as such. Unlike in Morong, there are many parishioners here. We noticed that Morong church was closed when we dropped by at around 2pm. Odd coz it's even Sunday.
It is also famed as one of the very few churches in the country featuring Rococo Artwork, a style popular during the 18th century characterized by curves and goldleaf.
the bell tower standing proud.....
a happy me....
It took us 35 minutes all in all to get back to St. Monique Valais in Pantok. Not bad. It's Sunday so traffic was specifically light. Another town visited in my new province.

Can't really wait to explore more of Rizal .....
