I'm really enjoying the process of discovering my new province---Rizal. And Since it's a landlocked area, there's nothing much to to expect when it comes to harbors or beaches. But if there is one thing that surprises me in this area, it's the churches. Some of the oldest and at that, well maintained in the country.
2 weeks ago, we went to Baras Church to hold mass there and it's for me another church to Marvel.
The Franciscans build the first church in 1595. The town was transferred to Ibayo in 1636 but returned to the present site in 1682. The Jesuits administered the parish from 1616 to 1679. The present church was completed in 1686. Just a little historical background there.

What I like about this church is the homey feeling you get when you see it. It has a staircase which elevates it and once in front you will feel it inviting you to go inside.It is conveniently situated uptown as if it was created to look after all the inhabitants below in a quiet and laid back town near the lake.............
nah...i remembered our old-stoned cathedral sa gumaca, quezon. galing ng architectural designs nila noh? at ang tibay pa. Sana nakunan mo rin ung loob. regards! ;)

ReplyDeleteWow! I studied hi school in Morong, Rizal. I have many friends in Baras and neighboring barrios. Try to visit d other churches in Rizal. Morong Church is near and its full of history too. Try to go to Bombongan Morong also and visit the Pacheco place. It's a great source of inspiration.
