Been a Nikon dslr user for more or less four months now but the trade is too complicated than I previously thought. And so with Alek and Mel of YOPHO, I decided to take up formal lessons on basic digital photography last month.
There are many photography masters who offer lessons. For many reasons, we chose Sir Nicolay.
Why basic digital photography? Because it pays to have a strong foundation on the trade. Just like learning abc and the basics of Math, your capacity to go deeper into it all depends on a good rundown of the fundamentals. Of coarse we learn differently, you can do it through application---trial and error shoot----but it usually takes longer. And since I'm the one who easily gets frustrated , I stepped up before the bad side of me take away my interest in photography altogether.
It's strange but some photographers pretend that they already know everything. Sometimes, it is a big advantage if you try to think you know nothing and just listen to the masters of the craft. Sir Nicolay is very knowledgeable about digital photography, more than that, he is a teacher by profession so he can really communicate to you in terms you can easily understand. That's the advantage.
Until now though, I still don't know my forte. I love landscapes but I am also seriously thinking about portraiture. This was supposed to be the next lesson that we will be taking, but since Alek went to Dubai for a month long vacation, we had it moved. Now that he is back, we are poised to take another photography lesson with sir Nicolay. yihhhh!!!
