Tang Launches the Philippines' First Christmas Playathon.

Christmas is for children. But it is for grown-ups too. Even if it is a headache, a chore, and a nightmare, it is a period of necessary defrosting of chill and hide-bound hearts. --Lenora Mattingly Weber.

Just saw this in one of the thread posting of a fellow blogger Axl which I thought is fitting for this blog entry as last December 11, Tang, one of the leading brands of Kraft Foods, proved that kids have the power to make a difference. Kraft Foods Philippineshas always played an active role in community building. In line with its vision to empower children, Tang partnered with Virlanie Foundation and launched its first tang Agents' Christmas Playathon, an exciting event inspired by Tang's interactive website,

Virlanie Foundation Kids 

Virlanie is a non-government organization (NGO) caring for children in need of special protection: abandoned, abused, exploited, neglected, orphaned, poor. More than 100 Filipino staff and volunteers, supported by a network of donors and sponsors, helped and provided basic care to more than 1,200 street children in 2009.

Founded by French social worker, Dominique Lemay, Virlanie is a non-profit organization celebrating its 18th anniversary this year (2010). In the past 18 years, Virlanie has helped 12,000 children and has developed children to become young adults who are responsible and self-sufficient.

“The event aims to inspire transformation in children through the act of giving and sharing,” says Geline Chua Caedo, Assistant Brand Manager of Tang.

 

“The Virlanie Foundation is the perfect organization to partner with for this event,” says Chua Caedo. “We share the same mission of championing kids, and we fully support their cause. We want to make the Christmas of the children from the Virlanie Foundation more exciting by giving them a chance to be a Tang Agent and win exciting prizes. On the other hand, we also aim to empower our online kid members to experience the joy of being a positive influence in someone’s life.”

During the playathon, online kid members known as TANG AGENTS were paired with the Children from Virlanie Foundation. They had to work together as they go though exciting FruiTraining levels and the chance to win a grand shopping spree from Toy Kingdom.

But at the Tang Agents’ Christmas Playathon, everyone’s a winner. Eliminated pairs were given a P 500 gift certificate from Toy Kingdom, which they can use after the event.

As for the winners, 100, 000 pesos worth of Toy Kingdom merchandise is waiting for them. We followed as they rushed their push cart through the shop and grabbed whatever toy they liked.

It was really heartwarming to witness this happen......

“This event will not only inspire children to play a more active role in community building, it will also teach them to appreciate the blessings in their lives.” says Arlyne Fernandez, Program Manager of Virlanie.  “We look forward to having more projects with Tang and we’re thankful for having been given the chance to partner with them.”

Thanks to the Tang Agents’ Christmas Playathon, the online kids with their new friends from Virlanie Foundation had yet another memorable and fun-learning Christmas.......
