impressed by TERMINAL BERSEPADU SELATAN (TBS) at Bandar Tasik Selatan

This was one of my main concerns in Kuala Lumpur.Since I had to plan for my own town,I was afraid I might end up taking the taxi all the time, for convenience, but I am sure it's going to cut a big chunk on my budget. The best trick is to utilize other cheaper modes of public transportation---trains,buses etc.Turns out KL has one of the most developed highways (yes,I envy the roads and highways in KL) and transportation system.

I will talk about the trains in my next post but the TERMINAL BERSEPADU SELATAN (TBS) at Bandar Tasik Selatan deserves a separate entry. This bus terminal impressed me.Maygad, airport lang ang peg!At nahiya pati si NAIA-3! And to remind you again, this is a bus station, okay? :)

Okay.If you are having difficulty pronouncing or remembering the name, just say TBS and you're good to go.That's the acronym. So it would be easier to say , TBS=wow! hahaha

TBS is a new and ultra modern Integrated Transport Terminal built on a 49 acre piece of land, this state-of-the-art complex. It serves as the Southern Gateway to Kuala Lumpur.Meaning, all south bound buses could be found here.So if you are going to Johor, Malacca or even as far as Singapore, this is where you should go.I love the idea of having a centralized bus station. It opened in January 2011 and was fully operational by March last year.

It was here where I took the bus to Malacca which is around 2hours away from the capital. My hotel was located downtown (Bukit Bintang area) and I went here via taxi,it took me around RM 16.60 on the taxi meter from Bukit Bintang.

I like the idea that it functions as efficiently like an airport except that the rides are buses.I feel lucky I came at a later time in KL as this station just opened last year.Pardon my amazement as I have never seen a bus station this efficient my whole life.Bus companies have individual booths where you can purchase tickets and there are lots of them. And they have electronic billboard where you can track the buses going in and out of the station, electronic tickets and boarding gates too.And yeah, free Wi-fi for the public!Nice.

And  there are over 60 specialty outlets, food and beverage outlets, convenience stores. You name it!

And the buses are nice! The KKKL bus pictured below was the bus I took to Malacca for only 12.20 RM.Really affordable.

Look at how expansive their road system in KL is.Galit sila sa semento at highway at lupa dito.Ang lalaki ng kasada at pag sinabi mong fly over,FLY OVER talaga!:)

This overpass connects the TBS to the train stations.

Yeah,TBS is accessible via train so if you are lucky to be near a train station then that's the best way to go.All three train lines have a station here, Bandar Tasik Selatan.

I took the Sri Petaling line that night upon returning from Malacca as I had to meet my friend in Bukit Jalil (2 stations away) The Bandar Tasik Selatan station was still under renovation that time so i decided not to take photos there. The photo above was taken in Bukit jalil Station.

There. If you are in Kuala Lumpur and you are planning to go to any destination south, TBS is the place to look for. They have another station (I guess somewhere in Pudu) if you are going North, say, Penang or Cameron.I haven't tried that but I will definitely do so when I come back.

TBS really impressed me,and I tweeted this while I was waiting for my bus to arrive ----  Now I understand why Malaysia is such a tourism powerhouse.they have the attractions & the infrastructure to back it out. --------True!
