I reckon the staff and crew of Calea Pastries and Coffee shop along
Lacson Street Bacolod had to take Alaxan (pain reliever) daily the entire duration
Masskara2012.The crowd in their shop was non-stop when we tried the
place they must be very tired.
Or maybe this flood of customers is a daily occurence.Who can resist great tasting cakes in big servings at cheap prices anyway? That's why I call Calea, "Cake Wonderland".

CALEA PASTRIES Bacolod
We went here after having dinner at Pala-Pala Restaurant along 18th St.dinner at PALA-PALA with MASSKARA2012 bloggers which is actually walking distance away.In the days leading to the finale of Masskara Festival, most pf downtown Lacson Street is closed to traffic and is transformed into a big party venue. We saw Electric Masskara floats pass by the avenue flooded by people. In Calea which is immediately along Lacson, the scene is similar. It was difficult to get a seat.
We persevered and finally landed in a corner table. My
travel blogger friends didn't waste time and ordered their cakes.I was a
bit apprehensive to order mine at first as I was very full over dinner
at Pala-Pala.But the night became a food tasting event, each blogger
allowing a free taste of the cakes they ordered.I was surprised at how
delicious their cakes are.
Of course everybody's all praises for Calea
cakes but to taste is to believe.Among those ordered by my peeps are
1.Rainbow Cake which I find colorful.Very appealing to kids,at least
from the outside, and for adults alike for the right sweetness.2. Fruity Cheesecake which could give other cheesecakes a run for the money.

Speaking
of sweetness, the King of which was the one ordered by Fitz (which I
hope I got right)Caramel Cake. Fitz said that if you are to eat several
cakes, make sure to take it last as it will make all other cakes taste
unsweetened.True!hahaha
I ended up ordering 2 slices of cakes.1.Apple Cake (85php) and 2.White Chocolate Cake (65php).

white chocolate cake
One of the best Apple Cakes I have tried so far.The white chocolate is
also nice, although I expected it to be a little more sweet.Or maybe it's
the effect of tasting Fitz's order.hahaha
and here's a sample of the vast selection you can try at CALEA........
The price is really a big surprise for me.For cakes this heavenly and servings this big,any cake in Calea would end up twice the price in Cafe's in Metro Manila. If I were not full,I might have ordered other flavors. And in Calea, there sure is no shortage of cakes to choose from. After all,Calea is CAKE WONDERLAND!
CALEA PASTRIES AND COFFEE SHOP is located at: Lourdes - C Bldg., Lacson St. Bacolod City, Negros Occidental (034) 433-8664.
I have to take my wife here one day :)
