I feel privileged indeed to be part of the heritage tour organized by
Negros bloggers as it allowed us the chance to access some ancestral
houses in Silay usually off limits to the public. One of which is the
ancestral house of Dr. Jose Locsin who is no doubt one of the most
prominent sons of Silay.Dr.Jose Locsin was a former governor, congressman
and a senator of the Philippines.
His grandson,Solo Locsin, who is a budding public servant himself personally welcomed us and guided us throughtout the tour giving insights about the house which is significant not just for the family but for the country as well. This is where some important agreements were signed.

Other than getting insights into the place and seeing the old furnitures
and paintings, one of the things I like the most about the tour of the
Locsin Ancestral house is that they served us meryenda----yeah!
Biscocho,tablea chocolate and meringue!
We were all gathered at the
dining area on the 2nd floor chatting while enjoying the break during
which we gained insights again at the eating habits Silaynons and
Negrenses in general.
They love snacks, and during siesta time,it's tablea
coffee and biscocho that they eat most of the time.Being there, eating
the food that people have been eating for decades gave me a sense of
being one with the place. Silay is indeed amazing. These heritage houses
earn my utmost respect and admiration.
Everybody Happy

ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your blog. Very good photos! I liked reading about some of the houses that we did not visit.
I liked it so much, I have added a link to it on my own Heritage Silay blog.
http://heritagesilay.blogspot.com
(See the "further reading" page.)
Do drop into my blog,
saunter around, read a paragraph or two,
see the photos
and if you like, you can write a comment too.
Hope to visit Silay again, and see some more houses that you have described in your blog.
