The first three (3) years of marriage they say is the most critical stage.Ours has been one with a lot of fun and excitement. We love doing things together so we have been having a wonderful adventure especially because we don't have kids yet. I wouldn't deny though that there have been a few bumps along the way.But nothing couldn't be solved with "good communication".
I realized that there have been small issues building up lately and my wife was starting to manifest her disappointment with me. I thought about a dinner date at The Bayleaf Intramuros' SKY DECK VIEW BAR as a perfect place to reconnect and patch things up.I sure am glad the planned pushed through.
the SKY DECK VIEW BAR dinner date
"Just give me a reason, Just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again
It's in the stars
It's been written in the scars on our hearts
We're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again."
The Sky Deck View Bar has a simplified ala carte menu. The big menu board is complete with glossy pictures of food. Picture palang appetizing na.Wait till you try it for real.I wasn't expecting much and I thought the dishes are a bit pricey but learning that these are inclusive of tax and service charge, okay na. And if the food is delectable given this kind of setup (the amazing night view),all worth it!
The Callos Manelenyo was more of an experiment. We wanted to try something new.It was good I know, except that I am no fan of ox-based dishes.Di ata ako talaga sanay sa mga pang-sosyal na pagkain.hahaha.But it's nice. :)
So when we were picking dessert and she saw the Chocolate Wall on the menu, I knew she would go for it.I suggested alternatives but she was insistent. Since this night was for her, I said yes. And I was surprised.I love it.Well, I thought it was a cake but it turns out to be a combination of chocolate mouse and chocolate soil with vanilla ice cream on the side.I highly suggest you try this when you dine at the Sky Deck View Bar.
We transferred to a nearby couch after our meal and ordered beer. We wanted to stay longer to enjoy the wonderful ambiance of the place. The weather was perfect, the sky was clear and the moon was bright. Our dinner date at the Bayleaf Intramuros' Sky Deck View Bar was as memorable as it could get.

While writing this post, I was playing the song "Just Give Me A Reason" by Pink. It goes,
"Just give me a reason, Just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent
And we can learn to love again
It's in the stars
It's been written in the scars on our hearts
We're not broken just bent

a happy wife = a happy marriage
Of course let's not forget what we ordered on our dinner date, we had Quesong Puti Fonde for appetizer, Bagnet Binagoongan and Callos Manileno for the main course and Chocolate Wall for dessert.
Quesong Puri Fonde-- 350php
Locally made white cheese, salted fish flakes, local lime, toasted garlic and toast.
I know how much my wife loves cheese. She would occasionally drag me to Pizza Hut to buy cheese-stuffed pizza and I would feel robbed each time. The Quezong Puti Fonde at the View Deck Sky Bar was a delight for her.I am no fan of quezong puti but this one sure is a revelation Never thought quesong puti could taste this good. The right cheesy-salty flavor, thanks to salted fish flakes.Perfect appetizer.
Bagnet Binagoongan w/ rice --400php
I love Bagnet. This is marked as a "heritage food" in the menu of the restaurant. There are four (4) variants ---- Classic (fermented fish sauce pinakbet), Sinigang (farm vegetables in fish sauce), Paksiw (fried chili) and the one we picked, Binagoongan which comes with fried eggplant. Bagnet Binagoongan never tasted this good! I have a sweet tooth but Sky Deck View Bar's version is something I wouldn't go tired with.
Callos Maneleno --450php
Slowly cooked ox tripe, ox tail, and pork knuckles, roasted bell peppers, olives, morcilla
The Chocolate Wall -- 260php
--Chocolate mousse, brownies, chocolate soil, vanilla ice cream, dulce.
The Chocolate Wall is a favorite! I love chocolate bars but for some strange reasons, I don't like chocolate ice cream and cakes.Perhaps because my wife loves em so much she would always buy chocolate flavored cakes and ice cream. Nanawa nako.So when we were picking dessert and she saw the Chocolate Wall on the menu, I knew she would go for it.I suggested alternatives but she was insistent. Since this night was for her, I said yes.
