WHERE TO EAT IN CEBU CITY: LARSIAN ihaw-ihaw + Brownie Cup at LA MAREA + CASA VERDE Baby Back Ribs

Your first visit in Cebu will not be complete without paying a visit to the famous "ihawan" (grilled food on stick) of Larsian along Fuente Osmena Circle. The place is very famous to both locals and tourists because of its delicious but cheap food on stick varying from seafood to hotdog as well as pork and chicken barbeque.

So we did last 2008 and what I remember beyond how the food taste like is how hot, crowded and full of smoke the place was. Such is the ambiance and though it adds to the overall appeal of Larsian, I knew it could get improve.

Fast forward 2013 and I was back in Lasian--- alone.I noticed that this time, it's more airy, spacious and bright.Nice! Dati halos di ka na makahinga sa usok.

Also noticed that the food kinda got more expensive.Still cheaper compared to other establishments though.

If it is fine dining you are after but would like stay away from the typical food stalls of Ayala (that is, pag lagi kana sa Ayala) , a good alternative would be Cebu IT Park.They have a few good restaurants in there that are a little high end.I was still full after having lunch over at Kontiki Dive Resort after our freediving when I dropped by here so I hunted for something else ----dessert.

And thank for this Singaporean's blog, I came to know about La Marea's Warm Brownie Cup.

It was two years ago when the blog post was written and barely two years later and they have already increased the price by 40%. From 100 per cup, it now costs 140 pesos.A little pricey if I may say so given the small serving and simple presentation.

Still, a dessert that will definitely warm your heart each time----happiness!

I googled for some food suggestions and it was odd that I landed in a Singaporean's blog who posted her top 10 food finds in Cebu. Lechon is ever present of course.I have tried Zubuchon last year and I was not convinced of how good it is if you are to consider all the hype.

I heard RICO"s LECHON is the best.

Unfortunately,I was too tired with freediving earlier that day that I was knocked on hotel bed at 

Hotel Henry.It was already 8am when I woke up and despite the taxi hurriedly taking me to their branch near SM Cebu (which was already closed). I did end up in Emilio Osmeña St., Guadalupe Branch.

which was still open but they were already out of lechon. Sangkalan nalang ang natira.Maagang nauubos ang lechon nila.

So I suggest if you want the best lechon in Cebu over dinner, better dine early.

I took the taxi again and since it was already late, I didn't wanna risk going somewhere else but The Terraces Ayala.Already starved, I was sure I will end up in a restaurant somewhere there.Kahit fastfood pa yan papatusin ko na talaga.

I texted Doi while on the way and she suggested CASA VERDE to me. They have the largest order of baby back ribs ever. I swear nahirapan akong ubisin.

Seeing all diverse dining option is Cebu City, I think some sort of culinary renaissance is happening.Cebu is becoming more than just lechon.I am excited to try other restaurants when I return.
