Just a few days before this year’s summer is officially over, we were invited to visit Vigan, hosted by Metro Vigan Inn, which is located beside the city. The Road Trip to Vigan is a two day trip which showcased the newly opened Metro Vigan Cafe, boasting their Ilocandia Cuisine and their Kalesa Tour, a day trip to Vigan’s famous tourist spots.
Travelling to Vigan certainly hints a throwback feel since it was one of the few remaining Hispanic towns left in the country. Famous for their unique architecture, cobblestone streets and don’t forget their delicacies.
After a nine hour drive from Manila, we have reached Metro Vigan Inn at around 12:30nn because of too many stop overs, which is a bit late for our itinerary.
Tired and hungry, we were welcomed by the friendly staff at the newly renovated Metro Vigan Cafe. The best thing who welcomed us are these little bagnet burgers to ease the hunger we’ve felt, while they’re preparing our lunch.
Since Vigan is famous for its richness about history, culture and delicacies, I have listed down the must places to visit and places to eat around the city.

1) METRO VIGAN CAFE
A not too spacious cafe but really has a lot to offer. From the famous Kare Kare Bagnet, to Metro Vigan Chicken, and Spring Roll Longaniza, I must say that you will never regret trying the foods on their menu. Not to mention that the price ranges are around P150 – P300 per order.
2) SAINT AUGUSTIN CHURCH or BANTAY BELL TOWER, built in 1951 was used a as the city’s watchtower. It allows you to see the 360 degree view of Vigan City.
As you enter the bell tower, locals are very eager to guide you and tell you about its history and culture.
3) CALLE CRISOLOGO
One beautiful amazing street that is surrounded by old houses turned into inns, coffee and souvenir shops. Calle Crisologo also called the Heritage Village was considered a UNESCO Heritage Site to save and maintain the cultural part of the famous street.
Full of woven products, antiques and wood crafts, it is definitely the best place to buy your pasalubongs and souvenirs.
4) HIDDEN GARDEN
More than just a restaurant, coffee shop and a garden, the place is full of potteries and Vigan souvenirs. There is no doubt that the owner of this place is a landscape artist. They have wifi and the original Vigan Empanada is on their menu.
Famous for their home made delicacies, Senorita Dulce is a place where it’s best to buy bibingka, brownies and their very special Miki that we can’t resist. It’s a bonus if you visit the place during the afternoon since you can get a picturesque view of the sunset.
Just a few minutes away from Calle Crisologo, Plaza Salcedo offers a lot of fast food chains and stores like Jollibee, Mcdo and who would've thought they have Guess there too! The best time to visit the place is around 7pm, just in time for the city’s newest attraction which is the Dancing Fountain Show that made us all in awe.
7) HOTEL LUNA
Just a few blocks away from Calle Crisologo, Hotel Luna has the best Sinanglao, which is the local’s version of papaitan.

Pusangkalye's little misadventure in Vigan
WHY YOU SHOULD LOVE and HATE VIGAN
Pusangkalye's Side Note: I have been meaning to go back to Vigan and give the city another chance to make its mark on me. Despite the lack of experience, and yes, that little rant, I believe Vigan holds a lot to fall for.
