This hotel exudes freshness anywhere you look that it felt as if it was just build last year. Its location greatly helped since it is literally within the confines of U.P. North Science and Technology Park. That means the area is surrounded by old Acacia trees which makes you feel that you are not in the Metro. This area is actually leased to Ayala Land a few years ago which it developed into an Information Technology hub. Ayala did a pretty good job at preserving the acacia trees and keeping the buildings not taller than 8 storeys high so you feel more in nature than in the city.

I focused too much on this aspect because the surrounding area definitely set the tone on the overall feel of any hotel. Its triangular orientation with an open lawn in the middle gives the hotel another fresh dimension. The green grass on the lawn I immediately noticed upon entering the hotel door thanks to a minimalist two-storey lobby with floor-to-ceiling glass walls.

Add a warm smile at the reception, the quick check-in, hallways dotted with modern paintings, access to room corridors secured by a key-operated door, a nice restaurant, a convention hall, rooms as newly designed as one can get, a rooftop pool, what more can you ask for from a 3-star hotel. A modern hotel that is still true to the Microtel experience. I call it the face of "next generation" Microtel Hotels.

Security and Privacy

If you enter the lobby, the two storeys on your right hosts the restaurant at the ground floor and the convention halls on the the 2nd level. That means all guest rooms are located on your left, all seven (7) floors. I like it that from the ground floor to the uppermost level, corridors to the rooms cab only be accessed with key cards. That means off limits to non-hotel guests for privacy and security.

2 Queen Beds Room
We stayed at the 7th floor in a deluxe room with two (2) queen-sized beds. It was actually my first time to stay in such room and it was not as bad as I thought. You can use one bed during the day when you just roll over the bed relaxing watching tv or going around social media or what have you and still the other one beautifully done for the night. With comfy beds and fresh sheets,you are guaranteed utmost rest. Our room view is the lush vegetation of big acacia trees and the central temple of a local Christian group.

As I mentioned on my previous posts on Microtel Cabanatuan and Microtel Baguio, this two queen-size bed orientation in most of their rooms is one of the best selling points of the hotel thus it is highly sought after by families and groups.

THE POOL
Not all Microtel Hotels in the Philippines have pools. Cabanatuan got one, Mall of Asia branch got one and it's really nice that UP Technohub got one, and it's at the rooftop! The whole rooftop of the left wing of the hotel is an open space with the pool in the middle. The pool is actually small and is only 4 ft deep but it definitely adds a lovely dimension to the space.

The fact that the pool occupies only a small fraction of the rooftop means there is ample space to go around or do other activities either by chilling by the tables around the pool or playing with your kids. This also means social events can be accommodated here. I like the fact that there are no buildings around taller than the hotel so get an infinite view of the expanse of the Metro. Afar is the skyline spread of Metro Manila. You can tell from here how far we have come. And did I tell you how I looooove skyscrapers? So I really enjoyed hanging out here especially during sunset.

Watching the kids having fun by the pool while the sun is about to set and you by the poolside table sipping beer is priceless. We were tempted to take a dip but we felt ashamed competing with the kids. ahahahaha

Millie's Restaurant
Since the hotel is located on the quieter side of town, there are not so many restaurant options if you are to go by foot except for a few in The Portal which is the section of Technohub with shops and dining spaces. We love Master Kebab at the portal. For dinner, we ended up in a Korean buffet restaurant near Timog which was roughly 100+ pesos away via Uber taxi. Yeah, going around is not a problem since the hotel is just next a huge highway that is Commonwealth Avenue. For shopping, the property is within 2.2 km from Iglesia Ni Cristo and Quezon City Hall. TriNoma Mall is about 4 km away, while SM City North EDSA is accessible with a 5.1 km drive. Ninoy Aquino International Airport is approximately 20 km away.

If you don't feel like going far, you will make the hotel's restaurant -- Millie's -- your best friend.
