It's hard to fathom that Cebu City, being cosmopolitan and a tourist haven (both local and international) is lagging behind in terms of modern and classy hostels. It still has a lot of catching up to do with Manila which boasts of nice spaces for backpackers like Zen Hostel, MNL Boutique Hostel, Pink Manila among others. And yes, Lub D has recently opened a branch in Makati. Hallelujah! Check: http://www.pusangkalye.net/2018/03/lub-d-hostel-makati
Sure, there are many inns there in the 1000-peso range but nothing posh. If I only have the money, I would put up a hostel there similar to Lub d Bangkok which is my favorite of all the hostels I tried.
Maybe close enough is Travelbee Business Inn , I discovered this place last quarter last year when I went solo backpacking in Cebu, Dumaguete and Siquijor. The first time ever that I made a mistake with my booking. I was about to check in at another cheap inn but they couldn't find my booking. Turns out I booked an earlier date. It was considered a no-show and therefore used. Sayang pera. And I didn't want the same accommodation to earn twice so I checked Travelbee Business Inn. I happen to notice it on my way to my inn. I didn't know I would end up here.
Although Travel Bee Business Inn Cebu would still not qualify for the posh hostel I am looking for, it everything one can ask for for a budget accommodation ---clean, trendy, breathable. Best of all, it is well below the 1,000 Php price. And with big room cuts, what more can you ask for. Cable tv, check, Hot shower check, wall lamps that add dimension to the room, check.
My stay here was brief but I certainly achieved what I cam here for. To get a good rest after the day tour to Leah's Temple and Sirao Flower Farm especially because I had to leave for Dumaguete early the next day.

They also have a pretty decent restaurant at the lobby floor but I couldn't tell anything about the food because I was mostly outside during my stay. Mango street, which is known as the nightlife center of Cebu, is nearby that's why. Also, there is a karinderya next to Travelbee and I enjoyed eating home-cooked meals there.
At any rate, this short post is for those who are looking for a decent accommodation in Cebu City under the Php 1000 price range. If you are just passing by the city to your forward destination, this is the best value inn for you.
